M. Tech in Environmental Science &Engineering
Orissa is considered to be a rich state in mines and minerals. In the recent past the State of Orissa has seen a lot of industrial activities with establishment of a large number of Sponge Iron Plants ,Integrated iron and Steel Industries ,Thermal Power Plants and Aluminium Industries. To attain a sustainable development and management of industries, expertise of qualified Environmental Engineers and Scientists are required particularly to undertake Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental management Plan for obtaining clearance from the Government as well as to tackle the various Pollution Control activities. Similarly ,the state is also encouraging the growth of higher engineering education and as many as 40 engineering colleges are now functioning in the state where Environmental Science and Engineering is an important component and there is acute shortage of qualified Environmental Engineers as there is no such scope for prosecuting M.Tech in Environmental Science and Engineering in the state. Therefore it is proposed to open a M.Tech Course in Environmental Science and Engineering which will be first of its kind in the state which will provide adequate employment opportunities to the students.
