During Xth  plan ( If  Yes , give details ) :- A  National  Seminar  was  organized  on the topic “Modern  Indian  Political  Thought : Themes  and  Trends” on  14th Feb. 2007. Dr.(Mrs) Johani  Xaxa was  the  Director  of  the  Seminar.

On  a  purely  personnel  basis , individual  teachers  of  the  Deptt. provide  Counseling  and  Consultancy  Services to  the  Students and  also  to  others  who approach them  from time  to  time .

Dr.B.K.Mahakul has  undertaken  a  Research Project entitled : Political  Modernization  of  Tribal  Leaders  granted  by  ICSSR ( 2002-03 )and  Role  of  NGOs  in Tribal  Development  in Orissa  granted  by the Deptt.  of  Tribal Dev, Govt.  of India.

The  Deptt.  has  received Rs  20,000 /- from  the UGC  Unassigned Grant  for organizing  a National  Seminar on  Modern Indian  Political  Thought on  14.02.2007.

The Deptt.  has  received a  sum  of   $ 2,300  Us  Dollars  as  Academic  Grant by  the  Urmila Foundation of Late  Prof. M.K.  Mahapatra  of  Indiana  State University  USA for organizing  Seminar/ Lecture  Programmes on India US  issues. The  amount  has  been  deposited in  the University account.
